Abu Othman or Abu Usman Shoe Repairs Shop in Abu Dhabi, U.A.E.

Image
Abu Othman or Abu Usman Shoe Repairs Shop is perhaps one of the oldest shoes and bag repair shop in Abu Dhabi, U.A.E. It is located on Najda St. same building as Wear Mart. The shop is owned and run by locals from Pakistan. Though it is hard for them to converse in English, they always fix our shoes and bags as per our requirements and with reasonable price. They do not have telephone number but here are the contact numbers I got from their receipt: Mr. Mohammed Khan - 0547227318 and 0509951647  Shop's Contact Numbers - 0552562557 and 0507615537 Better to call them before going to their shop as they might be closed for prayer or during lunch time. For Bukno's Oakley backpack, Mr. Mohammed Khan will repair the zipper and stitch the inside lining for 25 Dhs. I didn't ask for discount as I know how difficult it is for small business owners to thrive especially during these times but usually they will give you discount if you ask.

Jubail Mangrove Park in Abu Dhabi, U.A.E.

We visited this amazing mangrove park in Abu Dhabi last 22nd of February, 2020. The mangrove park is less than 30 minutes drive from Abu Dhabi downtown. Best to visit during winter and visitors should wear comfortable footwear as it is a 2 kilometers boardwalk. (Actual video in the end 😎)

Nice Goto King Cafeteria on Al Falah Street, Abu Dhabi

Cheap and Cheerful Bukno and I chance upon this small eatery along Al Falah Street. The name “Goto King” was familiar as we thought it’s the same Goto King in Dubai. Afterwards, we realized that the name of the eatery is “Nice Goto King Cafeteria” and is not the same management as Goto King in Dubai. Parking space was quite difficult as there were roads closed due to constructions. Once we arrived in the eatery, we were greeted by a staff. Later on, we came to know that he is one of the owners. His name is Mr. Usman and his co-owner is Mr. Mohammed. Both of them from Bangladesh. While waiting for our orders, Mr. Usman told us that the Mr. Mohammed was previously employed by Goto King Restaurant in Khalidiya Mall but it closed down. He decided to open the small eatery as he knows from experience that Filipinos love to eat. The chefs were all Filipinos and the dishes were prepared and cooked in an open kitchen. All in all, it was a cheerful experience as the ser

Ritaj Restaurant, Abu Dhabi (behind Etisalat on Airport Road)

Good Value for Money  My husband, Bukno, highly recommended Al Ritaj Restaurant for affordable but tasty chicken biryani and chicken 65.  The Electra St. Branch is a bit difficult to find but I think the easiest landmark is behind Etisalat Bldg. on Airport Road beside Alam Supermarket. The restaurant is like a hole-in-the-wall. Once you park in front, a staff will approach you immediately ask for your order. We decided to dine inside the restaurant. I would commend the staffs as they are very attentive and ready to assist. Restaurant Chicken 65 Chicken Biryani "Peanut Sauce" as Bukno called it. It's tasty but really spicy. Pinoy Lomi House in Tourist Club, Abu Dhabi

Budget-Friendly Comfort Food Bukno and I loved that Pinoy Lomi Restaurant and Bakehouse offers affordable and tasty comfort foods like "lomi" and "lugaw". The Tourist Club branch is not that spacious but it will give you a feel of typical carinderia (diner) in Philippines. Unlimited Lugaw = 10 Dhs + 5% Vat Lomi = 10 Dhs + 5% Vat Food = 4   😋 Price = 4  😋 Service = 3  😋 Location = 3  😋 Ambience = 3  😋
