Al Dhafra Restaurant in Mina, Abu Dhabi, U.A.E.

Abu Dhabi boasts an array of local and international restaurants. But whenever we crave of fresh seafood, Al Dhafra Restaurant in Al Mina Port is on top of our list. It’s close to Mina Fish Market and although it looks like a hole in the wall restaurant, the variety of fresh seafood will not leave you unsatisfied. 

We were invited by my sister-in-law to celebrate her birthday in Al Dhafra Restaurant. 
The restaurant offers buffet and a la carte menu.

While waiting for your meal, they will serve you dates and warm kuboosh (pita bread). 


Grilled local fish, skewered cuttlefish and baked mussels.



To cap it all off, the tea guy will tirelessly serve you with unlimited hot tea infused with cardamom, saffron and fresh mint.




In addition to the superb food and cozy ambience of the place, it’s the warm welcome of the staffs that will make you come back again. Maybe that’s the secret for being one of the oldest restaurants in Abu Dhabi, 24 years to be exact.

Good Value for Money  My husband, Bukno, highly recommended Al Ritaj Restaurant for affordable but tasty chicken biryani and chicken 65.  The Electra St. Branch is a bit difficult to find but I think the easiest landmark is behind Etisalat Bldg. on Airport Road beside Alam Supermarket. The restaurant is like a hole-in-the-wall. Once you park in front, a staff will approach you immediately ask for your order. We decided to dine inside the restaurant. I would commend the staffs as they are very attentive and ready to assist. Restaurant Chicken 65 Chicken Biryani "Peanut Sauce" as Bukno called it. It's tasty but really spicy. Abu Othman or Abu Usman Shoe Repairs Shop in Abu Dhabi, U.A.E.

Abu Othman or Abu Usman Shoe Repairs Shop is perhaps one of the oldest shoes and bag repair shop in Abu Dhabi, U.A.E. It is located on Najda St. same building as Wear Mart. The shop is owned and run by locals from Pakistan. Though it is hard for them to converse in English, they always fix our shoes and bags as per our requirements and with reasonable price. They do not have telephone number but here are the contact numbers I got from their receipt: Mr. Mohammed Khan - 0547227318 and 0509951647  Shop's Contact Numbers - 0552562557 and 0507615537 Better to call them before going to their shop as they might be closed for prayer or during lunch time. For Bukno's Oakley backpack, Mr. Mohammed Khan will repair the zipper and stitch the inside lining for 25 Dhs. I didn't ask for discount as I know how difficult it is for small business owners to thrive especially during these times but usually they will give you discount if you ask.
